Please don't ask me - "How does this relates to university??". Facebook have become an integral part of our lives. This might not be true for all, but for majority of us this thing holds true. And in students community, I guess it is more important than syllabus. Strange na! Hats off to Mark Zukenberg.
They are actually doing their work. But have you observed something. It is claimed that sites like facebook keeps you close to your dear ones. Really?? I doubt? Ya, they are good place to advertise and spread your stuff on web. They are great stuff to have so called "friends".
Two important factors that I really find improper : Firstly, Algorithm according to which facebook works. Secondly, a word called "Unfriend" was coined by facebook.
Let us discuss algorithm first. Among the pool of the friends we have...few are closed one...few are just "friends". But not necessarily that your best friend is regular user of facebook. He might be using it some or the other time. But your so called friend is 24 * 7 online. Obviously, you will get more occasion of interaction with him rather than your best friend. So whenever your so called friend does anything you will see it on your wall when you login. But as your best friend rarely use facebook and you rarely interact with him USING FACEBOOK, his updates might not be displayed at all. So what faecbook does here is....it creates the distance between dear ones.
"Unfriend" is the most pathetic word I know in English language. Who is your friend? Someone with whom you are comfortable...some to whom you like to talk to...etc. Who are enemies? Someone whose loss is your gain and you feel immense pleasure in that. What is unfriend? When you unfriend someone, he is not your enemy even. In both case...be it friends or enemy you have some feelings for the related person. But in unfriending someone...you have nothing to do with that person. There is no existence of that person for you.
Can any relation be worse than that?
